Betrayal The Divine Series Book 2 eBook MR Forbes

Overall, The Divine is a decent (stress on decent) series. The writing flows well, the story develops well, and the author can keep your interest.

However, the protagonist - Landon - is truly a stupid, stupid individual. I mean he lacks even the intelligence of a normal human being. I understand authors must have their characters do things that are dumb, wrong, misinformed, etc, in order for the story to develop; but, Forbes has Landon doing dumb, stupid, things left and right. The character never uses logic worth a damn, can't reason his way into a course of action, and prefers to stumble along just re-acting rather than acting.

I finished the three books so far published. The manner in which the character's continually stumble from one scene to the next is very off-putting though. These three books don't really make me want to continue this series, or get his other books. Overall, I was able to burn time enough to justify the costs of the books, but I wish I'd just read these as a loaner from a friend or the library and spent the money on something else.

Betrayal is a book that continues the perils of Landon and his allies and or enemies. The demise of the world is at a crossing point and the one who Landon needs, his sister, turns on him. This book will keep you at the edge of your seat as you travel through the paths of heaven, hell and purgatory. You won't put it down until you come to the end and then you will want more. A must read one of Mr. Forbes best series and he has many. Don't get left out join the adventures and you will be exhausted when you finish but you will also be pumped to eternity.
Betrayal
The Divine, Book Two
By M. R. Forbes
Narrated by Jeff Hays
This continues the story but so much more develops. Angels, develops, vampires, were, hybrids, and more! Action, betrayal, love, hate, so much is a stake! Ever suspenseful!
The narrator can literally perform any voice or sound! Excellent!!!
Better than book one...love this series.
I loved book one and I have understood that book 2 is five years after book one, but when I started reading it I thought I missed a book - in one the chalice was taken by Rebecca - but in the beginning of two it appears that he did get the chalice and hide it as Dante requested - when and how did that happen? When was he offered a penthouse from Rebecca to move out of the trashy hotel? There are a couple other things that I am assuming will be addressed as back flashes from the five years to fill in the gaps.... or my e-reader left off several chapters from book one. Confused, I am. But I am not giving up, great new and unique story line. I am sad that book three is not out for me to dive right into when I finish this one.
This was a very good follow up to the first book in this series Balance (The Divine, Book One). The story takes place 5 years after the events in book 1 and Landon has spent the time trying to refine his discrusis abilities and protect the one mortal person he loves. However, when that person is kidnapped he's about to find out how little he really knows about the people he trusts and the source of Divine abilities.

This is proving to be a very a interesting fantasy series populated with the doings of angels, devils and everything in between. I'll be picking up book 3 when it is released and interested to see where the series goes from here. If you are looking for a new urban fantasy series in your kindle reading you could do worse than picking up these books.
Betrayal (The Divine, Book Two)

I really enjoyed Balance, the first book in this series and couldn't wait to start this one. While I was a bit confused at how the book kicked off, being 5 years later, it didn't take long to pick up the missing pieces as Mr Forbes leaves snippets of information which reveal how the protagonist has developed/survived to date.

However, Landon is now emotionally just a shell of his former self - the challenge of maintaining the balance between good and evil, on top of being betrayed by those he loved, has stripped him of most of his humanity. If it wasn't for Sarah, the girl he's sworn to protect, and the puzzle of a single rune found on all Divine objects, one wonders whether he would have given it all up for a little oblivion. Well, if he wasn't immortal of course....

Landon's soul residents epitomise the role he represents - an (in)delicate balance of an angel on one shoulder and a demon on the other. I thoroughly enjoyed the independent relationship between these two entities, as well as them being there to bring a little light, companionship and depth to Landon's otherwise somewhat lonely existence.

There is a tonne of kick-ass action throughout the storyline, fights that sometimes appear fantastical and surreal as Landon continues the battle to prevent the destruction all of mankind - and while doing so, suffers the ultimate betrayal - that of his very reason for being!

MR Forbes writes well, allowing the story to progress without too much attention to any one detail. This allows the reader more freedom of imagination which, to me, is what a book should be, rather than been forced to live the authors world to a letter. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

There was no cliff-hanger in this book, it closed where it should and leaves the reader looking forward to the next one - Broken. Both books bring an interesting new twist to this genre and I absolutely recommend them!
I read and enjoyed the first book, despite the typos and grammatical errors. But this I could not finish. I got tired of reading, ' I could see, I could hear, I didn't understand,' (four times in one paragraph) and I focused,' over and over again. In other words, this author has used passive instead of active voice. Too much tell and not enough show. I don't mind a few typos and grammatical errors, but unfortunately this happens on just about every page. What a pity, this could be a really great series.
If this series goes through a serious edit, then I will buy more.
