Twisted Desire was touted as a dark read and the blurb certainly makes it sound that way, I found it to be more of an action/suspense romance. For a darker read, I feel the captor needs to be more sinister than our hero Tag was. A guy you hate to love. Don't get me wrong, he was a great leading man, just not (and I hate to say this) as twisted as I like my captors to be.

Penny is snatched from a club and wakes up on a boat heading for who knows where. She's been drugged and has no memory of how she got there. Enter Tag. The handsome made man in Roman Vidal's cartel. Tag isn't there to hurt her, only to watch her until Roman's plans for her fall into place.

Penny is unaware of why she was taken, just that she wants to go home. With Tag's constant supervision, that isn't going to happen. Penny learns the hard way that staying in her room and listening to Tag is actually the safest thing for her to do at the moment.

There is something off about Tag from the get go. He isn't the usual dark captor you read about, this guy has more of a conscience than he should for a cartel hit man. The reader picks up on it pretty early as does Penny. Never the less, Tag is there to do a job and he does it well. Guarding Penny isn't nearly as bad as it seems and as the weeks go by, they forge some sort of crazy relationship.

Tag has secrets. Big ones. Ones that will get him killed. This is what saved the book in my eyes. We read along about the captive/captor without much fanfare. Although there is some steamy sex, I wanted a bit more struggle. At about the 75% mark the story starts to come together and it all makes sense.

The book is well written and while I like my dark a bit darker than this, it still kept my interest until the end.

Twisted Desire eBook Laura Dunaway Reviews

Penny is kidnapped as an act of retribution against her cartel father. She is held for weeks on a yacht and for the first few days all she does is cry and talk about how awful her kidnapping is. The whole first third of the book is all about Penny and Tag and their interactions. Nothing is said about what lesson they are teaching her father, when she will be returned, etc. Just on and on with her crying and Tag feeling tender and trying to protect her. It was just too tedious to continue. No suspense. The only drama is a Penny's constant crying. Skip this one.
I loved this book! I had to read it in one sitting because I was so invested in the storyline and trying to figure out what was going on. Penny is still very innocent in life and has been protected from a lot of things. Tag, the o e in charge of keeping a watch on her after she's been kidnapped is a very handsome man and keeps telling her he has .o idea why she was taken but she can trust him. What do you do with a handsome man who you spend so much time with and protects you from some of the other evil things going on. There are a lot of secrets and twists that come up that Dave you wondering what is really going on. I had some ideas on some situations and as things unfolded was blown away by what was revealed. Even some things I never thought about! It is a crazy and intense story, but also a great love story in there. The ending will leave you speechless!! It is a definite MUST read!
“I’ve loved you from the moment I saw you in that cold, dark room. I’ve loved you since you told me to go to hell; I’ve loved you since I first held you in my arms. I have no idea what I did to deserve you, but I’m never taking you for granted. You’re an angel from heaven sent just for me, and I’m never letting you go, no matter what. You’re mine, always.”

swoon Oh man, I loved this book. Especially Tag. Oh Tag. You devilishly sexy man. Loved him from the beginning to end.

oh yes. every interaction between Penny and Tag had me feeling like I was having early onset hot flashes.

The story itself had a dark tone (kidnapping stories tend to be like that...obviously...) but the chemistry between Tag and Penny was CRAZY! And let me tell you, the sex scenes did NOT disappoint!

I reccommend this book to anyone who enjoys
* kidnapping romances
* dark romances
* sexy heroes and strong heroines
* some intense action scenes that leave you holding your breath
* and of course love stories that leave you SWOONING ... and yes, I swooned. A lot.

TEAM TAG FOR BOOK BOYFRIEND OF 2014
I wanted to LOVE this book, I really did. There was just a few things that stopped me from that.

Like the fact that some things happened WAY to fast for my liking, and some things came out WAY to slow for my liking. SPOLIER!!! (You just don't fall in love with your captor that fast. Usually (Almost all the time!) it takes some fighting. But in this book? Not so much.

As for the writing, it was well done, except for some parts. The spelling and the use of some words was wrong, but overall, the book was alright. Until the end. That ending was pretty predictable. At least to me. Some may not see it coming, but I did. I like surprises in the books I read.

Would I read this story again? Of course. It was horrible. Just slightly unbelievable in some parts.
First off, the prequel is how she was abducted, and this book follows it. They do not coincide! So do yourself a favor and don't read both.

Now, for the meat. It's not a great book. At all. If you get it for free, and it's the only book you have, by all means, give it a whirl, but there are so many better books out there. There is absolutely no reason why she couldn't have been "rescued" earlier.

Spoiler...

It becomes obvious that he's a secret agent, and he has enough on the boss, so there is no reason to continue and yet it does. Then the final showdown, he gets shot because he gets sloppy. No one would take down a madman like that. The romance wasn't even that great either!
I lost a few IQ points trying to finish this book. Stockholm Syndrome is real but pushes the limits of believability in this story. The author served a watered down romance story formula, but should have worked on improving her characters' dialogue. The main character sounded like a Kardashian and that's NOT a compliment! Skip this book. You don't need to waste your time on an author who couldn't score a better editor.
